About Me

I Am The Webman: A bold claim, or a clever domain?

Matthew SilbertI proudly boast the moniker of Webman because I've been coding, designing, producing, managing and teaching about websites on a full-time basis since 1996. I've worked on literally hundreds of sites in that time, ranging in scope from simple one-pagers to enterprise level e-commerce platforms requiring a team of 60 people.

I specialize the evaluation and deployment of content management systems (CMS), working in a wide variety of technologies including Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal. (Most web development companies specialize in only one, and will sell you the system they know, regardless of whether or not it's the best solution for your site.) There are many approaches to maintaining a website including hands-on editing - there is no one way! I also specialize in user experience simply because there is nothing more important in the success of a web site. That may be the only web related issue that has not changed in 15 years.

In 2001 as a Co-Founder of Nimbit Inc, I helped developed Nimbit's own proprietary CMS, creating the first set of web tools specifically geared towards the music industry. Ten years later, Nimbit continues to prosper as the premiere DIY sales platform for musicians.

Prior to starting Nimbit, I was a senior project manager for one of Boston's most infamous web firms: Stumpworld Systems. At Stumpworld I personally oversaw the on-time launches of the original Phish.com, the original award-winning Aerosmith.com, and dozens of other high profile music and non-music industry sites. During this time I taught web design classes at U Mass Lowell, the prestigious School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and later at Santa Monica College in California.

At the pinnacle of all things Web over the last 15 years, I've also established a network of associates that are genuinely expert at the various web-related skills that are now part of the site building process. From server and DNS issues, through SEO and social networking, I can assemble and manage a team that can expertly complete any type of web project. So, yes - I am the Webman. And besides, how could I pass up that domain?
